The rights to the majority of Tina Turner’s “music interests” have been sold.

On Thursday, executives at entertainment firm Pophouse announced that they had completed a “strategic transaction” with bosses at music company BMG to become the majority owner of the late Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll’s catalogue.

They also acquired Turner’s Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) rights.

In a statement, Pophouse managing partner and head of Investments, Johan Lagerlöf, emphasised that the team will work closely with BMG and the executors of Turner’s estate to protect her legacy.

“We are incredibly proud to be entrusted with helping celebrate and develop Tina Turner’s extraordinary legacy,” he said. “Tina Turner is not only one of the greatest artists of all time, but a force of nature whose impact extends far beyond music. We look forward to developing new and exciting projects that respectfully carry her legacy forward for generations to come.”

A spokesperson for Turner’s estate has not yet commented on the agreement.

And Pophouse chief executive, Jessica Koravos, indicated that her team already has projects in the pipeline celebrating the life and career of the What’s Love Got to Do with It hitmaker.

“I am thrilled to welcome Tina Turner’s iconic catalogue to the Pophouse family. We will now set in motion a series of creative projects to celebrate Tina Turner’s remarkable music and persona and secure her legacy as the Queen of Rock n’ Roll,” she added.

Based in Sweden, Conni Jonsson and ABBA star Björn Ulvaeus founded Pophouse Entertainment in 2014.

The firm is known for investing in ABBA Voyage, the concert residency which features iconic band ABBA as virtual avatars.

Turner died at the age of 83 in May 2023 following years of poor health.
