Music News: Niall Horan Completes 4th Solo LP

Niall Horan has completed work on his fourth solo album after hinting at a possible release “sometime this year”.

The former One Direction member â€" who recently dropped a new collaboration titled Drive Safe with Myles Smith â€" has wrapped up work on his highly anticipated follow-up to 2023’s The Show.

He shared on X some behind-the-scenes clips and photos from his time in the recording studio, stating: “Album is DONE.”

During an appearance on the Hits Radio Breakfast Show with Fleur East, Will Best, and James Barr via Zoom, he provided an update: “I’m in here finishing it right now. So I’m in the beat lab!” “I’m just finalizing some vocal parts and other elements that needed improvement, but yeah!” “I should have music out sometime this year. And I’m really excited about it!”

Niall’s debut solo album Flicker was released in 2017 and reached number three in the UK charts, followed by chart-toppers Heartbreak Weather in 2020 and The Show in 2023.

However, the collaboration was still a daunting task.

Niall added: “It’s challenging when someone asks you to do this because it’s very personal to him, something very serious to him.” “And for me to then come and contribute to it was obviously a big request.” “But we met up and decided to see where it goes, and when we were in the studio together, it just clicked.” “It meant something to me, and it meant something completely different to him, and that's the beauty of these kinds of collaborations.”

In the heartfelt song, the two artists sing about the importance of following your heart “wherever it leads you” and that it’s okay if “tears fall” along the way.

They sing: “Life is a road, don’t know what’s along the way / so drive safe.”

Upon the release of the track, Myles shared his thoughts on why he chose to work with Niall.

In a statement, he said: “Collaborations only really matter to me when they come from something real, and working with Niall genuinely did.” “He has a natural instinct for melody, but beyond that, he’s a good friend who quickly became one of my closest.” “Our friendship shaped the song, and hopefully you can feel it in every line.”
