Music News: Travis Scott Helps Houston Heal

Travis Scott wants to help the people of Houston, Texas “heal” following the Astroworld Festival tragedy.

In November 2021, a terrifying crowd crush occurred during the annual event staged at the NRG Park, with 10 people killed and many others suffering injuries.

As part of an interview for Rolling Stone published on Wednesday, Scott â€" real name Jacques Webster II â€" discussed his desire to organise an event in his hometown in the future.

“When I did that festival, I was trying to bring something to where I’m from, and when you look back, it’s like a time that was supposed to be so enjoyable just went wrong,” he shared. “I would love to heal that in the city. But I would also want people to be receptive (to it). I don’t want to force a reception.”

The Sicko Mode hitmaker went on to note that he believes there is a “distorted view” of who he really is following the tragedy.

Scott, bosses at Live Nation, and several other parties have faced lawsuits over the incident, with them being accused of negligence and failure to ensure the safety of concertgoers.

In June 2023, a grand jury decided not to bring criminal charges against the hip-hop star and others.

At least two civil lawsuits have been settled since 2022, though terms and damages have never been disclosed.
