Music News: The Paul McCartney Documentary

What happens after you leave the most influential rock band in history? Paul McCartney: Man on the Run, a definitive new feature documentary directed by the multi-award-winning Morgan Neville (Oscar, Emmy, and Grammy winner), seeks to answer that question.

Released by Trafalgar Releasing, the film will debut in select cinemas worldwide for one night only on Thursday, 19th February 2026.

The Creative Rebirth of a Legend

The documentary focuses on the transformative decade of the 1970s, tracing McCartney’s journey from the painful dissolution of The Beatles to the meteoric rise of Wings. Using a “uniquely vulnerable lens,” Neville explores Paul’s musical reinvention alongside his late wife, Linda McCartney.

The film is enriched by stunning archival footage and Linda’s own intimate photography. It features deeply personal interviews with Paul himself, alongside his daughters Mary and Stella McCartney, former Wings members, and peers including Mick Jagger, Chrissie Hynde, and Sean Ono Lennon.

Fans attending the theatrical event will be treated to more than just the feature film; each screening includes an exclusive bonus conversation between Paul McCartney and Morgan Neville that will not be available in later releases.

For those unable to make the cinematic event, the film will begin streaming on Prime Video in over 240 countries starting 27th February.

The Wings Renaissance

The documentary serves as the centerpiece of a major revival for McCartney’s 70s catalogue. Following the 2025 release of the oral history Wings: The Story of a Band on the Run and a career-spanning 3LP anthology, the film provides the visual narrative to a period that saw McCartney go from “growing up” to once again becoming one of the biggest-selling acts on the planet.

Tickets for the one-day cinema event go on sale Wednesday, 4th February at 2pm GMT via manontherun.film.
