Music News: Barry Manilow Shares Cancer Update
Barry Manilow has shared a promising health update, weeks after he announced he had been diagnosed with lung cancer.
The Copacabana singer, who recently underwent surgery to remove a cancerous spot from his left lung, shared a smiling hospital selfie to Instagram.
âBetter today!â he wrote in the caption.
The postâs comment section was flooded with kind words from fans wishing the 82-year-old a speedy recovery.
Manilow revealed he had been diagnosed with lung cancer last month.
âEven though I was over the bronchitis and back on stage at the Westgate Las Vegas, my wonderful doctor ordered an MRI just to make sure that everything was OK,â he said.
âThe MRI discovered a cancerous spot on my left lung that needs to be removed. Itâs pure luck (and a great doctor) that it was found so early. Thatâs the good news.â
The legendary crooner revealed he would be undergoing surgery to remove the spot, adding that the doctors âdo not believe it has spread and Iâm taking tests to confirm their diagnosis. So, thatâs it. No chemo. No radiation. Just chicken soup and I Love Lucy reruns.â
He shared that as a result of the procedure, he would be rescheduling his January concert dates.Â
âIâm counting down the days until I return to my home away from home at the Westgate Las Vegas for our Valentineâs Day concerts,â Manilow shared.Â
âSomething tells me that February weekend is going to be one big party!â
The Grammy-winning artistâs career has spanned six decades, with hits including Copacabana, Canât Smile Without You, Mandy and Could It Be Magic.
