Legal Battle: Manager Takes on Avicii's Estate Over Alleged 'Misdirected Attacks'
The manager of Avicii's estate has filed a lawsuit against the late artist's estate, claiming that the estate has been making unjustified attacks against him. The manager alleges that these attacks have been misdirected and are damaging his reputation. This legal action highlights the complexities and tensions that can arise in managing the affairs of a deceased artist, and underscores the importance of clear communication and collaboration in such situations. It also serves as a reminder of the legal challenges that can arise in estate management, particularly in cases involving high-profile individuals like Avicii.
Music News: Manager Sues Aviciiâs Estate For âMisdirected Attacksâ
Claiming heâs been âoverwhelmed with misdirected attacksâ and reputational damage to inaccurate portrayals of his role in the late artistâs life, Ash Pournouri is suing the Avicii estate.
Having managed the superstar deejay/producer/writer/artist (born Tim Bergling) until 2016, earlier this week Pournouri took to Instagram to confirm the litigation. Regional reports followed before the complaint, filed against several companies associated with the Avicii estate, began making a stateside media splash.
Besides describing the action as âthe final resort,â Ash called the litigation an attempt âto correct an inaccurate and incomplete public narrative concerning events within my professional environment around Avicii.â
Months following Aviciiâs 2018 death by suicide, the Swedish-born talentâs his stepfather called out Pournouriâs âgreed,â accusing the manager of forcing the musician to maintain a grueling tour schedule, which allegedly took an immense physical and mental toll.
According to the legal documents themselves, the same narrative can also be traced to Aviciiâs 2021 biography and, among other things, Netflixâs Avicii â" Iâm Tim (2024) documentary.
