Adeleâs Acting Debut
Grammy and Oscar-winning singer-songwriter, Adele is making her move into acting in fashion designer-turned-director Tom Fordâs next film, Cry To Heaven.Â
Based on Anne Riceâs 1982 novel of the same name, the fictional story follows two men, a Venetian noble and a castrated opera singer, whose lives become unexpectedly intertwined in 18th-century Italy.Â
Produced, directed, and self-financed by Tom Ford from his own adaptation, the film will feature a star-studded cast featuring Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, George MacKay, Mark Strong, Colin Firth, Paul Bettany, Hunter Schafer, Thandiwe Newton, and Adolescenceâs breakout star Owen Cooper.Â
According to Deadline, Cry To Heaven is currently in pre-production in London and Rome before filming begins in January prior to its autumn 2026 release.
In July, Adele stated that she was taking âa big breakâ from music after her Las Vegas residencies that wrapped in November of 2024, and was planning to explore other creative avenues.
In her interview with German TV station ZDF, the 37-year old songstress said âI donât have any plans for new music, at all.â âI want a big break after this, and I think I want to do other creative things, just for a little while.â
Prior to her big screen debut, the singer/songwriter (born Adele Laurie Blue Adkins) appeared in a 2009 cameo in the TV series Ugly Betty, and she famously sang the theme song to the 2012 James Bond film Skyfall.Â
Following 2009âs A Single Man and 2016âs Nocturnal Animals, Cry To Heaven marks Fordâs third directorial stint that will reunite him with his A Single Man leads Firth and Hoult and Nocturnal Animals star Taylor-Johnson.
