  • 0:00 | And I switched Arg's life.
  • 0:01 | He can't sleep here with Jeff's life.
  • 0:06 | Switch back or this angel man will send
  • 0:08 | you to hell forever. Smite him.
  • 0:11 | That's actually not my department.
  • 0:13 | Gentlemen, congratulations on the film.
  • 0:15 | Oh, thank you.
  • 0:16 | Okay, so I'm actually going to start
  • 0:18 | with Keanu, but he's going to brag on
  • 0:19 | you. Um because you we have a quote from
  • 0:22 | you where you said, "If you have the
  • 0:23 | chance to work with two comedy masters,
  • 0:26 | you go for it." So my question is what
  • 0:28 | happened when that happened? Like what
  • 0:30 | was your favorite part?
  • 0:31 | Their mastery I'd seen on film and
  • 0:34 | television um your comedy specials, your
  • 0:37 | standup and then to going into rehearsal
  • 0:40 | working with Aziz having the chance to
  • 0:42 | work with Seth through the whole thing
  • 0:44 | from rehearsal to filming uh was just a
  • 0:49 | clinic. uh improvisation,
  • 0:52 | timing, understanding the where and when
  • 0:56 | of what a scene is, the yeses, uh the
  • 0:59 | inventiveness.
  • 1:01 | Um it was cool to just kind of watch
  • 1:04 | that and be a part of it. And um I went
  • 1:07 | to comedy school,
  • 1:09 | a master school. What was the most
  • 1:10 | surprising part real quick and then I'm
  • 1:12 | Yeah, of course. You know, I'd never
  • 1:14 | worked with Aziz before. And I think,
  • 1:16 | you know, him just having an idea for
  • 1:18 | the character and the energy and the
  • 1:20 | perspective of the role. It's not
  • 1:22 | something I would not expect.
  • 1:24 | Yeah.
  • 1:25 | But it was something cool that I was
  • 1:26 | like, "Okay, I'm in good hands. Okay,
  • 1:29 | this is I can trust this."
  • 1:30 | And then I'm like, "Okay, whatever
  • 1:33 | do Yeah. Then I just want to I want to
  • 1:35 | do what I can." You know,
  • 1:36 | on your side of it, I just feel like
  • 1:38 | it's always weird with you like
  • 1:39 | multihyen. It's like, "Why do y'all want
  • 1:41 | to give yourself more work? I'm trying
  • 1:42 | to get out of work. But for you, I guess
  • 1:44 | the work is you get to direct people
  • 1:46 | like Kiki Palmer and Seth Rogan, but it
  • 1:48 | also means you kind of have to tweak it.
  • 1:50 | Is there a difference to directing them?
  • 1:51 | They're both very talented people, but
  • 1:53 | like what did you tweak yourself a
  • 1:55 | little bit when you were directing Kiki
  • 1:56 | versus Seth? Yeah, I've worked with I've
  • 1:59 | known Seth for a long time and Kiki I've
  • 2:01 | we've gotten to know each other very
  • 2:03 | quickly and we have a short hand and and
  • 2:05 | I think it's like Keanu is saying it's
  • 2:06 | like you kind of quickly I don't know we
  • 2:08 | kind of quickly all be were on the same
  • 2:10 | page and understood what we were trying
  • 2:11 | to do and understood the job a bit and I
  • 2:14 | think they kind of knew what I was
  • 2:16 | trying to the tone I was going for and
  • 2:18 | and they're such a great cast I I don't
  • 2:20 | think I had to say much to them. I if
  • 2:22 | anything I would just maybe have an idea
  • 2:24 | for a joke or something and throw it
  • 2:25 | out. But we we we all understood what we
  • 2:27 | were trying to do.
  • 2:28 | I love that. Um this film joins the
  • 2:31 | incredible cannon of what I call like
  • 2:33 | angel movies, you know, Wings of Desire,
  • 2:34 | It's Wonderful Life, Constantine,
  • 2:37 | Alita, Battle Angel, Legion. Not quite,
  • 2:41 | but it's close. But if you could have
  • 2:43 | anybody be your guardian angel from one
  • 2:44 | of your former co-stars and we can't say
  • 2:46 | good fortune co-stars like I'm going to
  • 2:48 | make y'all work for a little bit and
  • 2:50 | like go through your incredible
  • 2:51 | filmography which you both have.
  • 2:54 | Who from your like co-stars would you
  • 2:55 | want looking out for you guarding your
  • 2:57 | I'd say Amy Polar is the right answer.
  • 3:01 | Aubrey Plaza is maybe the more
  • 3:04 | fun answer them on that podcast.
  • 3:07 | Responsible but
  • 3:08 | fun mom responsible mom.
  • 3:11 | Love my Parks family. If any of them
  • 3:13 | could could look after me, I I would I
  • 3:15 | would be in good hands.
  • 3:16 | I dig that. What about you, sir?
  • 3:18 | Lawrence Fishburn.
  • 3:19 | Oh, that is Man, you both see I knew
  • 3:22 | this would be like a really good answer.
  • 3:24 | Um, and you guys have done just so many
  • 3:26 | incredible things. Like I said, like I
  • 3:28 | feel like you're probably going to
  • 3:29 | announce some comedy special after be
  • 3:31 | like, "Oh yeah, while I made the movie,
  • 3:32 | I was also doing an hour a night in New
  • 3:34 | York." I'm right, aren't I? I'm right,
  • 3:35 | aren't I?
  • 3:36 | I'm on tour. Yeah, you're not wrong.
  • 3:37 | I know it. But um you sir are sneaky.
  • 3:41 | You're a voice in severance.
  • 3:43 | I am. Yes.
  • 3:44 | Can you just tell me about this because
  • 3:46 | No, no. I got a call out of the blue
  • 3:47 | from Ben Stiller and he's like, "Hey,
  • 3:49 | you want to do this thing?" And I was
  • 3:50 | like, "What is it?" I looked in the
  • 3:51 | thing. I said, "Yeah, sure." And then he
  • 3:52 | was like, "Okay, let's go."
  • 3:54 | Well, I mean that makes it really easy
  • 3:56 | and fun. Have I do think you've done a
  • 3:58 | ton of stuff, but severance is different
  • 3:59 | because people are probably coded to you
  • 4:01 | now be like, "Do you know anything?"
  • 4:03 | And do you know anything?
  • 4:06 | I think uh yeah, I get it.
  • 4:08 | That's the joy of the show.
  • 4:10 | Um the CWR-CRB fans would at
  • 4:11 | least kind of hit me a little bit if I
  • 4:13 | didn't just say to you, are we going to
  • 4:15 | cuz I did mention the Angel movies.
  • 4:17 | You're an angel in this one. I got
  • 4:19 | Constantine. Anything?
  • 4:20 | Yeah, fingers crossed. You know, another
  • 4:23 | draft of the script came in. We're
  • 4:25 | waiting. We're going to take it to the
  • 4:26 | studio. Hopefully, they like it, too.
  • 4:30 | I just got to say that again. I
  • 4:31 | mentioned it. It's my favorite movie.
  • 4:32 | I'm obsessed with it. Um,
  • 4:34 | I wanted to ask you again because we
  • 4:36 | talked about angel movies. Which ones
  • 4:38 | are the ones that you looked at sort of
  • 4:39 | like inspiring in this cuz I felt like a
  • 4:41 | lot of other like not movies in it but
  • 4:43 | influences like oh god you devil and
  • 4:45 | stuff like that.
  • 4:46 | Well definitely Wings of Desire, the
  • 4:47 | whole idea of an angel becoming human
  • 4:50 | and I read that there was a scene they
  • 4:52 | didn't shoot in Wings of Desire where
  • 4:53 | the angel uh gets really drunk and gets
  • 4:55 | into a fight and and that made me think
  • 4:57 | like oh that's kind of interesting if if
  • 4:59 | Gabriel gets kind of dark. And then that
  • 5:01 | that kind of led to me writing that
  • 5:02 | scene where he's starting where he
  • 5:04 | starts smoking cigarettes and he becomes
  • 5:05 | kind of grizzled which is also inspired
  • 5:08 | by you know I would see Keanu smoking
  • 5:09 | sometimes like oh that'd be funny to see
  • 5:11 | if Gabriel's like he just completely
  • 5:13 | turns and all of a sudden he's just
  • 5:14 | shade smoking.
  • 5:17 | That is fun. You find little mannerisms.
  • 5:19 | Oh my god.
  • 5:21 | Sir um I beg to differ. You have lots
  • 5:23 | more. Um, all right. Well, thank you
  • 5:25 | gentlemen very much.
